Experts
The Cobayes experience is guided by experts who help participants better understand their challenges, place them in context, and gain perspective.
Emmanuelle Parent, PhD in Communication
Emmanuelle Parent is co-founder and executive director of the Centre pour l’intelligence émotionnelle en ligne (Le Ciel), whose mission is to raise awareness about the issues surrounding screen time and our well-being, particularly through workshops with thousands of children and teens in Quebec. She is a lecturer in the Department of Communication at the University of Montreal and a columnist on Radio-Canada’s Pénélope program. As part of the experiment, she helps participants become aware of their screen habits and set new goals for themselves.
Marie-Anne Sergerie, psychologist specializing in cyber addiction
Dr. Marie-Anne Sergerie has been studying the social aspects of the Internet and information and communication technologies for over 25 years. She published Cyberdépendance: Quand l’usage des technologies devient un problème with Éditions LaPresse and founded the website Cyberdependance.ca to inform the general public about this phenomenon. In the documentary, she helps the test subjects manage their emotions, including anxiety and stress, which can arise when trying to change digital habits.
Audrey Marineau, occupational therapist
Audrey Marineau works with people who want to change their habits by exploring, among other things, the relationship between screen use and how they function. She helps them achieve greater balance and autonomy. She contributed to the book Texter, publier, scroller, published by Éditions Écosociété. As part of the experiment, she helps participants transform their screen habits by offering meaningful, personalized activities and concrete ways to reinvest their time in pursuits that are meaningful to them.
