Battle: Immersion in the world of Montreal street dance

Télé-Québec and Picbois Productions are pleased to present Battle, a brand-new series that plunges us into the daily lives of five Montrealstreet dance artists. Available from March 1 on video.telequebec.tv, the documentary series follows street dancers in the heat of the battles, including Axelle “Ebony” Munezero, David “DKC Freeze”, Destiny (Révolution), Maude “Moody” and Walid “Waldo” (Révolution). Battle will premiere at La grande fête des séries courtes des prochains Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma on Friday, March 1 at 8pm at the Cinémathèque québécoise.

Directed by Christian Lalumière from an original idea by Léa Villalba, and produced in collaboration with the 100Lux organization, this documentary series presents a real cross between the personal stories of each of the dancers and the performances they deliver in spectacular face-to-face encounters. En route to major hip-hop, popping, waacking and breaking battles, the dancers – including Destiny and Waldo, participants in the latest season of Révolution – offer privileged, intimate access to their different realities. In so doing, they open a remarkable window on a community where the values of respect, inclusion and sharing play an important part in everyday life.
