Decolonizing History – season 2: 10 new episodes on Quebec history to open dialogue

Following the success of the first season of Decolonizing History, Télé-Québec and Picbois Productions present new episodes of the web series, available from April 13 on video.telequebec.tv and on the Télé-Québec app.
Hosted by Vanessa Destiné, Youssef Shoufan and Aïcha Bastien-N’Diaye, and directed by Francis Papillon, Decolonizing History continues to surprise with this new season exploring 10 little-known chapters of Quebec history. From the racial segregation of black people to the forced displacement of members of the Naskapi nation, the French McGill movement and the work of domestic helpers, the series sheds light on key events thanks to never-before-seen archives, solid research and the participation of a number of specialists.

With a rigorous approach, in a playful, accessible format, the series presents us with sections of Quebec history that touch on themes that are still hotly debated today, whether it’s the debate on secularism, immigration issues, the defense of the French language, feminism or the economic development of Quebec’s regions through the exploitation of natural resources.
The second season of Decolonizing History shows how certain historical struggles can interact. It’s an invitation to dialogue and understanding of a diversity of realities.

The series will also open the next edition of the Festival Courts d’un soir. The premiere screening of six episodes will take place on Wednesday, April 12 at 7 p.m. in the Coeur des sciences amphitheatre at UQAM, in the presence of the team, and will be followed by a discussion.
