Decolonizing History – season 2: Opens at Festival Courts d’un soir and on Télé-Québec from April 13

Picbois Productions and Télé-Québec are proud to present the second season of the series Decolonizing History to open the next edition of the Festival Courts d’un soir. The premiere screening of six episodes will take place on April 12 at 7 p.m. in the Amphithéâtre du Coeur des Sciences at UQAM, in the presence of the team, and will be followed by a discussion moderated by Gaëlle Essoo, editor-in-chief of Futur et Médias, the editorial platform of the Canada Media Fund.

The full series will then be available from April 13 on video.telequebec.tv and on the Télé-Québec app. Directed by Francis Papillon and produced by Karine Dubois (Picbois Productions), the series reunites Vanessa Destiné and Youssef Shoufan as animators, and welcomes Aïcha Bastien-N’Diaye.

This second season features new vignettes shedding light on little-known chapters of Quebec history. Based on in-depth research and the expertise of a large number of recognized experts, the first episodes to be unveiled will deal with the forced displacement of the Naskapi, Opération Dignité against the closure of villages in the Gaspé, the Sixties Scoop, the French McGill movement, the debate on the secular nature of the State, and the struggle of domestic helpers.

The first season of Decolonizing History was an impressive popular and critical success. The series has won no fewer than seven awards to date, including the Grand Prix Série Courte at the Festival Courts d’un soir in 2021. It has made a name for itself both in Quebec and internationally, proving that the subjects it deals with resonate all over the world.
