Picbois distributes “Bubbles” by Mélissa Lefebvre and Paul Tom

Directors Mélissa Lefebvre and Paul Tom, the duo behind the documentary Baggage, have teamed up with Catherine Hughes to self-produce the documentary Bubbles. An inspiring and deeply human film that gives a voice to young people with autism, who invite us into their imaginary worlds through their creations and reflections. Picbois is handling the film’s promotion and distribution.

The starting point is a question asked by a student in the CASA (Class Adapted to the Autism Spectrum) groups: “If you could create a world, what kind of world would it be?” Thanks to a project that combines theater and 3D animation to reveal their rich inner worlds, Bubbles offers an enlightening look at difference, far from the clichés associated with diagnosis. The result is a touching work that explores neurodiversity, creative power, and the empowerment of these young people who want their voices to be heard.

« This film aims to empower young people with autism, both creatively and in terms of their identity. Given that 72% of them suffer from anxiety and isolation and that only around 10% will enter the job market, we believe it is time to let another way of seeing and understanding them emerge. Bubbles proposes a shift in perspective. Beyond the difficulties and statistics, the film highlights their sensitive intelligence and their capacity for imagination. »
