Right to Choose: World remiere at Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma
Picbois Productions is proud to present Right to Choose, a documentary written and directed by Julie Boisvert and Élise Ekker-Lambert. The film will premiere at Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma on Wednesday, February 26 at 7 p.m. at the Cinémathèque québécoise, in the presence of the directors, producers and several of the film’s protagonists. Presented as a Rendez-vous Extra, the screening will be followed by a discussion moderated by journalist Karyne Lefebvre.
In Canada, it is estimated that one in three women will resort to abortion in her lifetime*. On the eve of the federal election call, Right to Choose explores the constraints that persist and the threats that lie ahead. The documentary offers unprecedented access to the reality of those who protect this right. From Montreal to Gatineau to Fredericton, the film follows the work of doctors and nurses in clinics, and that of an expert who observes the rise of the anti-abortion movement by going into the field. Their stories are accompanied by powerful testimonials from women who have experienced abortion, freeing their voices to break taboos.
