Alone documentary team shines internationally

The film Alone was screened at the Best of INPUT international conference in Taiwan in the last few days. Co-writer Julie Boisvert presented the documentary, which was Canada’s only representative at the event.

INPUT is a non-profit organization that annually brings together international public broadcasters and producers to discuss the challenges facing public television. Best of INPUT, held in Taiwan, brought together the most outstanding productions from the 2022 edition of INPUT, which took place last May in Barcelona, to share with Taiwanese broadcasters.

Winner of four Gémeaux awards, Alone tells the story of Afshin, Alain and Patricia, who arrived in Canada as children, without their parents to look after them. Every year, over 400 children arrive alone at the Canadian border to claim refugee status. Directed by Paul Tom and produced by Picbois Productions, Alone bears the imprint of hope: how does a child manage to rebuild himself in a new country, when he has left everything behind, even his parents? The film was presented at a dozen national and international festivals, and will be broadcast on Télé-Québec in 2021.
