9/11 and me: A docu-variety that takes a fresh look at the attacks of September 11, 2001

To mark the 20th anniversary of the events of September 11, 2001, Télé-Québec presents 9/11 and me as a Web exclusive on telequebec.tv. Hosted by Nicolas Ouellet and produced by Picbois Productions, the series features Rahmane Belkebiche, Mehdi Bousaidan, Chafiik (Loco Locass), Safia Nolin, Elkahna Talbi (Queen Ka) and Ines Talbi recounting their experiences before and after September 11.

In an intimate atmosphere, the six artists deliver humor, song, music, slam and dance performances relating to the event. Through them, we discover the impact of September 11, 2001 on an entire generation, particularly children of Arab origin. A hybrid of documentary and variety, the series is a mix of confidence and reflection, between laughter and emotion.

The series offers an original angle to mark the 20th anniversary of September 11, 2001. It’s an invitation to reflect on the repercussions that these sad events had on young Quebecers personally affected, and on our society as a whole,” says Richard Haddad, Executive Director of Content at Télé-Québec.

9/11 and me is a web series of six ten-minute episodes and a one-hour special presented on telequebec.tv and on Télé-Québec’s Facebook page. Available online from anywhere in Canada, each episode focuses on a specific artist and their performance.

Starting on September 9, the public will be able to discover the one-hour special program, which takes the form of a docu-variety: a recording including all the artists’ performances and their studio discussions, accompanied by never-before-seen excerpts.
