Two podcast series mark first collaboration for Radio-Canada OHdio and Picbois Productions

Picbois Productions is proud to announce that it is currently producing two podcast series for the Radio-Canada OHdio platform. “We’ve been wanting to work together for some time, and the opportunity has finally presented itself.” – Karine Dubois, founder and producer, Picbois Productions.

The drama of the Polytechnique massacre will be revisited in a project initiated by Productions Porte Parole (J’aime Hydro, Tout inclus, Rose et la machine), to complement the documentary play Projet Polytechnique, currently in creation. The podcast documents the quest of actors Jean-Marc Dalphond, cousin of one of the victims, and Marie-Joanne Boucher, who delve back into the events of December 6, 1989 at the École Polytechnique to push their thinking further. Through the project, they explore unprecedented angles such as the phenomenon of incels, violence against women online and feminicide. It’s a troubling but illuminating incursion that begs the question: have we had all the social conversations this tragedy should have engendered?

The podcast will feature 6 episodes directed by Myriam Berthelet and edited by Alain Loiselle.

It will be launched exclusively on Radio-Canada OHdio. A broadcast announcement will be made shortly.

A second project will tackle the high school choice dilemma facing parents in a documentary initiated by Karine Dubois, producer at Picbois Productions.For the first time, Karine herself is taking on this quest, which stems directly from her own questions as a mother. Private schools, vocational programs in public schools, regular programs that give cause for concern: in this podcast, she asks how we came to accept that Quebec’s secondary education system doesn’t offer the same opportunities to all students. She also raises the question: how much power do parents really have in the face of this situation?

The podcast will take the form of a series of 5 episodes directed by Christine Chevarie and edited by Martin Gagnon.It will be launched exclusively on Radio-Canada OHdio.

Picbois Productions won two Numix Awards in 2020 for two outstanding podcasts: Trafic by Catherine Proulx and Debouttes! by Jenny Cartwright, produced in collaboration with Télé-Québec.
